Here's The Thing...
See this? I freaking love this thing right here…
I used to drink them every single day… but not the diet, the regular. I cut sugar and started with the diets, now I drink one every so often. There’s nothing in here that will kill me. Drinking one every now and then won’t make me fat.
I’m not saying it’s a health drink or anything. I’m also not saying...

Fat Burning Zone?
I didn’t hear this term until last week and it made me smile at first because it didn’t seem to make sense, but then I found out tons of people think you must exercise within a “fat burning zone” in order to burn the optimum amount of fat.
This is false.
Working at just above half of your maximum heart rate is known as a “low intensity” work out. It...

Calorie Myth #2
Myth: Exercising on an empty stomach burns more fat and calories.
Truth: This might seem like it would make sense, but after extensive testing and years of research, Exercise Physiologist Brad Schoenfield, CSCS discovered that even though your body will burn more calories during exercise, it will balance itself out by adjusting to burn less fat after exercise. So, you end up either nearly...

Calorie Myth #1
Myth: There are “negative calorie” foods.
Truth: No food contains less calories than what your body requires for the process of digestion. However, vegetables are high in fibre and contain lots of nutrients and water which help your body feel full longer and also aid in weight loss.

"Vanity Sizing"
I found this article online and it discussed how sizes in America, and some European countries, are pretty much meaningless. The woman who is basically the major example in the article ranges between sizes 0-6, depending on the manufacturer.
The American apparel industry has created an intentional system of “Vanity Sizing.” The increasing use of the smaller sizes—a size 12 in 1970 is now in the...

Thank You!
To everyone who left a suggestion on my last post about what I should use as a reward for my 180 pound mark. Some of you guys had such great ideas that I decided to replace a few of my other rewards with them!
As a thank you to everyone who suggested something, I’ve decided to promote you here on my blog. You all are awesome people and I’m really happy to see everyone making progress....

Want to Help Me Decide Something?
I am having a bit of trouble deciding on a reward for the 180 mark… I was going to have a small piece of carrot cake, but I don’t want to reward myself with food. Please let me know if you have any suggestions!

Weigh Day!
I lost a total of 6 pounds over the past two weeks! I was really surprised because I didn’t exercise much. I just lost a close family member last week and it sort of threw me off. But, I’m now 229lbs and less than 30 away from my first goal!
Happy dance time.

whatareyoureallyhungryfor-deact asked: Your progress even now is impressive! Congratulations on setting out on this journey- you have the kind of attitude that will see you through. I also love your personal philosophy page :)
eatmorebroccoli asked: do you have ferrets? I saw the paw print tattoo on your arm and I was just curious if it was a ferret track.

Making Excuses
…doesn’t help anyone. It only hurts you in the long run.
Even after making my decision to lose weight and get in shape, I catch myself making an excuse for why I could cheat and eat a candy bar or have a Dr. Pepper. I really like what Drew Carey said about how bad food isn’t a reward for your body. I need to stop punishing myself by thinking sugary garbage is a good reward for...

It's Almost A New School Year
So keep fighting your cravings and stick to your goals. It’s easy to overeat and consume junk on campus, but by Spring Break, you’ll be regretting your choices. It might be hard to avoid the temptation, so carry baggies of healthy snacks and water bottles with you.
You can do this.

Pizza...
My only true binge food these days… family decides it would be a great idea to buy pizza once a week. FML. Going for a walk to try and get the smells out of my nose.

Vitamin D and Your Health
Certain vitamins are more important than others and vitamin D is one of the most crucial. It’s also worth supplementing if you don’t get outside enough.
Sunlight is one of the easiest ways to get Vitamin D into your skin, but foods like salmon, tuna and milk contain decent amounts.
If you’re darker skinned or already pretty tanned, or if you don’t get much sun exposure,...

Are You Consuming too Much Sodium?
The average American consumes 3,500-5,000 milligrams of sodium per day, which is more than double the reccommended average. Did you know that sea salt is not healthier or better for you than regular salt?
Here are some tips to improve your diet and lower your sodium intake:
Use lemon juice, wine, herbs, and spices as seasonings.
Try to cut out processed, packaged, and canned foods.

The Worst Foods for Your Teeth
This might be a weight loss blog primarily, but what’s the point of getting your body into shape if you don’t feel comfortable flashing a huge smile whenever you reach that ultimate target weight? Here’s a list of the worst foods for your teeth. They are highly acidic and attack the enamel which protects the inner parts and also cause yellowing.
1. Soda and Energy Drinks - diet...

Lose Fat With Just Two Exercises!
These two exercises can’t replace your entire workout routine, but they are a great way to replace 15 minutes on the treadmill. Find helpful videos on the article itself.
You’re going to use both of the following exercises together to create a mini-workout. Here’s how:
Do 8 reps of the kettleswing followed immediately by 8 reps of the squat thrust. Then, without resting, do 7...

6 Reasons Why You're Not Losing Weight
Tips and tricks articles tend to relay the same information as other articles and sites, wording things differently to try and sound unique. However, I found a few tips which I believe are worth passing along that I have not seen elsewhere recently.
1. Eat real food. Read labels of pre-packaged things you plan on purchasing. If you don’t recognise an ingredient, try to find something more...

Carbohydrates: What's the Deal?
Most chances are, you know what the words “carbohydrate” or “carbs,” mean, but do you know the truth about whether or not they are healthy? There are plenty of meal plans out there which restrict, or even completely remove, carbs from your diet, but is that actually good for you?
“Good” vs “Bad” Carbohydrates
Have you eaten any fruits, vegetables,...

"What takes a week to lose, can take an hour to...
I just want to point out that this is not at all factually accurate.
Weight gain is brought about through poor diet and little to no exercise, this is true. However, eating fatty or unhealthy things once in awhile will NOT make you fat instantly, or in an hour. It should read something more along the lines of, “what takes a week to gain, can take an hour a week to lose.” You gain...

I Don't Know About You...
but sometimes, certain ab exercises just aren’t fun enough to do on a daily, or semi-daily, basis… well, luckily I just found 5 new ones and they’re all easy and fun!
According to the article where I found these exercises, you only need to do these 5 minutes a day to trim your tummy, along with eating right and other exercise, of course! Do all of these in one set of 8 reps, or...
livelovebaffle asked: Hey I just read your post about your family (someone reblogged it and it ended up on my dashboard) and I immediately had to follow you! I'm so glad you're doing this the healthy way and not beating yourself up because "your pee isn't clear" (yes I've sadly heard that)
